I had the same problem with a homebrew transceiver ,and RFparts said to me
that the MRF497 may be is a substituded of the MRF477.
Mrf477 Pout 40 watts , Pin 1.25 watts, Gpe(min)db at 30mhz 15, Package style
221A-04/2
MRF497 Pout 40 watts,Pin 1.25watts,Gpe(min)@50 mhz 15, Package style
221A-04/2
So this substitute has a little more gain because has a Gpe of 15 in 50mhz
not at 30mhz.
I hope this can help you.
Price was 37.93$ in july 2000.

Subject: Help to find some pieces MRF477
Hello for everyone!
I wonder if anyone can help us,there is some need here for
MRF477 final transistors for 10 meters equipments.
But seems it is quite hopeless to find, can anyone help??
Sorry this is a little out of the Heathkit argument, but I am also
satisfied owner of SB102,which is in use all the time.
