Until the appeal process is complete (i.e. the date
for filing an appeal is past) the particular company
could alledge that the "facts" in the case were not as
presented and that those people making the charges
were doing it to "spite" the company (i.e. trying to
take business away from them).  Therefore, the company
could take legal actions against those persons.  This
is just one of many "quirks" in United States laws.

The "local amateur" involved has "sent off for" the
legal renderings of the court (Justice of the Peace
Court, Paris, Lamar County, Texas).  Since the amount
involved was under $5000 (I believe is the limit in
Texas - it may now be more) it was tried in a JP court
rather than in the higher circuit court.
