Advice on Matching Finals

I'm still analyzing whether to replace the suspected bad final in the
HW-5400. Fortunately, I have a parts rig, and have just salvaged a pair of
finals.

I'm wondering how important it is to used matched finals. It will take a lot
of work to replace the part, and I was wondering if it's reasonable to
replace one final? For example, I could replace one transistor, test the rig
at low power (say 5 watts) and see if I get power output. If I do, I could
go ahead and swap the other one at that time.

Please tell me if this is a prescription for disaster. robcap at aol.com or
