Equivalent Part Numbers

In case these salvaged transistors don't work, I was wondering if anyone knew
a good way to find equivalent part numbers for heath transistors.

The label on the transistor says Motorola 417-973 307.  The user's guide
describes them as a 117-16, with Heathkit part number 417-973.

I went to the NTE web page, and these numbers didn't bring up anything.
