I don't have them side-by-side but I do have the SB-110A and have heard a
few Swan 250's. All I can say is the Swan was never very stable and had poor
audio. I thought it was a pretty trashy sounding rig. Others may disagree.
The SB-110A was an excellent SSB/CW receiver but it did have its quirks. One
of the IF tubes, a 6AZ8 was specially selected at the factory. Don't know
what it was selected for but in my case I had half a dozen to try and one of
them worked. Without this specially selected tube, you won't get 90 watts
out. The alignment procedure, while good was not easy to follow. Ended up
making myself a note sheet to follow. Basically if you like the performance
of the SB line on HF, you'll be happy with the SB-110A on 6 meters. If you
get one be sure to get the manual!

I'd appreciate performance comparison comments between the SB-110 and the
Swan 250 Trying to help a new ham get on 6m and he's looking at both.
