You are very lucky.  Most guys are not so lucky!

I also have my original DX-35 from 1956.  It probably needs some help
these days and I will eventually get around to it!

I did buy a VF-1 back in 1958, and also still have it!  The only advice
I can give you there is the divider capacitors, 510 pF, as I remember,
were responsible for most of the drift!  Replacing them with more modern
types should help!

I really never used mine on phone.  Too many guys saying my modulation
was lousy!  But on CW it was a gem!
