A DX-40 is one great rig. I found one once at a garage sale
that had been completely assembled using a silver glue that
looked like solder. The original owner had done a good job
of wrapping all the leads around the solder terminals enough
times to make good contacts.

I removed all the parts, put it back together, using real
solder. I still have it. It looks great. Sounds great.

I have never used it on phone though. The ones used on phone,
sounded OK. It has been many years since I have heard one
though. In fact, if I recall, you could not tell them from a
fancy plate modulated rig other then the bouncing S meter on
the receive end.

Neat find, fun project.
