CB'ers

Most CBers bought their radios from a local merchant who had no interest in
following the laws or advising the customer that rules even existed. Locally
in the 70s , CB radios were sold by just about every hardware, electronics,
and department store; one of the drugstores was a big provider of CB radios,
amplifiers, etc. All were respected businessmen whose only desire was making
a quick dollar or two hundred. Where was the ARRL and other ham radio groups
getting the word out to the public ?? No, they were too busy dwelling on the
past , insisting that real hams had to be crack morse code users, and
fostering an "us hams versus the dirty CBers" mentality.A lot of the same
people who hate CB, hated the Tech class operators for "mail-order"
licenses-which is the ONLY way you could get a Tech for many years. (Just in
case you care, I started as a Tech, and then passed the 13 at an FCC, not
VEC , testing session). Some of the worst 75 meter offenders are Extra class
licensees who have no real class. Most CB users were ordinary people , who
adopted the ignorant "hillbilly trucker on TV"style because no one showed
them another way.

Now that were into CB'ers. I'm not particularly fond of them or X CB'ers.
Listen on 75 Meter's and you'll see what I mean.I've had my license for
almost 51 years, when 11 meters was great. Oh well.
