Carl et al,

No, it's not jealous hatred of CB'ers - if they would just stay within their legally alloted frequencies
instead of occupying the ten meter band no one would give a darn. Yes there are real criminals out there
but as amateur radio operators it is our duty to ensure they don't invade amateur radio. I have been told by
CB'er to "get off our personal frequency" which happened to be 29.040 at the time. The said "We have been
using this frequency for the past four years and all of a sudden y'all are here interefering with us." Also
some of the commercially built but illegal 11 meter amplifiers which are labelled for " 10 meters" are very
poorly designed & built and put out a very dirty signal. Anyone who advertises a 10 meter amplifier on e.Bay &
describing it as having "4 pills" (tubes) is not an amateur radio operator & is just disguising the amp to
make it appear legal. I have heard splatter from 27 Mhz right up to 29.100 from some of these illegal amps.
This is the reason why people try to "police" the illegal CB equipment which is being advertised on e.Bay as
"amateur radio" equipment. Amateur radio was always "self policing" in the past which, by the way, was
sanctioned by your FCC & our DOC with those agencies stepping in when things get out of hand, there is no
reason today why we still shouldn't be "self policing." Actually it is even more necessary  to do so today
with the cut backs in both the FCC & DOC budgets & personnel. This is not to say all CB'ers are bad people,
some don't know they are doing wrong & some don't care.
Just my opinion on the subject!
