Now they're going crazy! Ebay evil?

I too would never pay the 'inflated' ebay prices for
an unassembled heathkit because I would just want to
assemble it and thus ruin the investment. I would
rather find an assembled heathkit in great condition
to use or admire, and I have. Ebay, and this
listserve, are great places to find them. On the
other hand, nobody makes kits like these today so for
someone that likes to assemble electronic products you
would have to pay big bucks for the thrill. Ebay is
driving up prices only because the audience is so
large. I have found many things on ebay that I would
never have been able to find at local flea markets.
If you absolutely had to have that toy that you owned
as a kid but eventually took apart and destroyed
chances are very good you'll see one on ebay. But if
that toy is collectable you will pay through the nose
to get it.
