Keith,

I think Martin was asking if a 3-500 can replace a 3-400 (not the other way
around). And the answer is still a qualified "yes". The tubes are
pin-for-pin equivalents, but the 3-500 has a larger glass envelope. There
may be cabinets/chassis in which the 3-400's will fit but the 3-500's will
not.
