Heathkit Parts

Knobs and trim pieces are what I'm usually looking for. The 'guts' are
relatively easy to restore, since one can usually find a substitute for
a electronic part (going so far as to rewind a transformer if
necessary). I suppose it must be possible for an individual to recreate
a knob or escutcheon, but it's certainly beyond *my* ability. :-)

For instance, right now I'm in the midst of restoring an SW-717. It has
some electronic problems which I know eventually I can solve, but I need
to replace a cracked knob, and there's a spot on the front panel where
the silver paint is missing. Since that panel is plastic, I assume that
there's no way to touch it up that would end up looking any good -- I'd
probably need a whole new piece there.

What sort of demand is there for Heathkit clone parts? Transformers,
switches, front panels, etc? Who wants what if they can get it?
