In my ongoing struggle to understand my SB-200 and interfacing it with
my FT-1000D, I have made some progress. I have disconnected the ALC
from the radio to the amp. This has provided better performance and
even the ability to have swr compatability with the radio's internal
tuner disabled. I do however run it with the tuner active. I have
noticed though that 10 meters has out put of about 80 to 90 watts with
100 watts drive. 15 and 40 need 50 watts to drive at 600 to 800 watts
respectively. 20 meters needs at least 100 watts drive to output 400
watts and I cannot run without the internal tuner in the 1000D.
My question speaks to the 10 meter issue. What suggestions can be
offered as to the low output in just that band. I found that if I
overdrive the amp with 100 watts in, my grid current metering goes down
to nothing and if I back off to 50 watts, it goes back to 100 or so ma.
HV is good in the unit. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much.
Jan
