Worplace Reactions (was Re: off)

Bruce and the Group at Large,
    Many years ago I worked at a place where we had a technician who was still a schoolyard bullie.  He was also a card-carrying Neo-Nazi, and was very open about it.  When the Oklahoma City bombing occurred, he got up on a lab bench and began preaching "Hate the Government" and "The War Is On" dogma.  The engineering manager was a spineless wimp, and shut his office door waiting for all the noise (and his responsibility) to go away.  We went to upper management and got the technician fired.

    To this day, I have no respect at all for that manager, and never will.  There are many more like him who accept adverse behaviour in our workplaces because they do not have the backbone to administer discipline to individuals with poor character or criminal mentalities.  Some even like to join in on the fun of bullying other employees because they themselves are too spineless to do otherwise lest they themselves become victims.

That still does not define the country of Islam.

There will always be misguided individuals who seek to make light of
tragedy.  They should be educated.  Firing him certainly does tell him
that his behavior is unacceptable, but unless we follow up and be sure
he has learned his lesson we may also be developing another terrorist!

If he has a family they are now hurting.  If they continue to hurt he
will react!  Did you not ever have bullies and other children at
school?  Did they turn out OK when they grew up?  Or, are they now all
living at state expense in jails?
