Hi Jim,

Congratulations on your AT-1 find ! It will be alot of fun to restore and
use on the air. The guys on 7040 will get a kick out of it also if you can
crank the power down - lest you be accused of running QRO :^)

I took a peek at BAMA to see if the AT-1 schematic and manual is up there
for free downloading. Nope, so spend the money and get a manual. It'll be
worth the $15 several times over.

Second. I agree, just put the manual on top of the case and cover the
stain. I know I wouldn't even dream of repainting such a nice AT-1 for a
minor distraction like that. Repainting always takes something away from
the radio in my opinion.

You didn't say if you tried cleaning the stain off. As with anything there
are a zillion ways to clean a cabinet and a zillion more opinions on what to
use. Personally I've had good luck with GOJO white (no pumice) hand cream.
Others have had great success with diluted Simple Green though I've not used
it personally. As always, try a little on the bottom first to make sure the
finish is safe. After cleaning agents evaporate or are cleaned off, often
the cabinet is left a bit dull. A famous BA paint supplier told me to use
WD40 to restore the luster of the finish after cleaning. I've tried this
and it works great. My 75A4 receiver looks brand new with a nice rich
lustre and I didn't have to overspray paint it or use any silicon based
products to get that look either.

So there's my 2 cents. Have fun with your new AT-1 and I hope to hear you
on the air with it !!
