SB-301 Questions

I just got an SB-301 which was in pretty rough shape.
I cleaned it up and replaced two tubes and fired it
up.  It works--not great--but I'll go throught the
alignment procedure next.  I have a number of
questions about it.  First, the main tuning seems
rather tight to me.  How tight is it supposed to be?
Should I be able to spin the knob with one finger? The
upper dial pointer does not track accurately.  How do
I adjust it?  Are there any "peculiarities" or quirks
that I should know about with this receiver?
