[Hallicrafters] Panadaptor

A great number of the Hallicrafters had 455 KHz i.f.
Also, many of the "serious" receivers have an i.f.
around 50 KHz for the second i.f.

Hallicrafters also made a panadaptor. It would take
at least a different input coil to work with the later
Heath i.f. frequency. May, or may not, have enough
gain at the higher frequency. You might have to build
a one or two transistor preamplifier.

I had one of the Heath SB "scanalyzers" for a while.
It had belonged to an amateur who would only have
Collins S-Lines in his shack. This was set up for 455
KHz. He had it completely refinished to look like the
S-Line! It was "OK", but I never did find it useful
for anything except maybe seeing if someone else was
on 2 meter SSB when I used it with one of my S-Lines
into my Hallicrafters HA-2 transverter. Traded it off
for a Collins 32S1.

By the way, how's the HT-37 doing.

Does anyone have experience with putting it on IF such
as the 3k Heath one, or maybe some of the Hallis (to
be honest, I have not checked the Halli IF numbers but
assume they are higher than 455 in their serious ham
RX).
