Technical Problem

Hello Ray,

I am one of those ARRL Tech Specialist in the Pacific Northwest. And if the
FCC does come in, and finds that your station is not properly setup. Yes
they can hold you responsible.

Please do not take that first sentence the wrong way. I had a problem myself
similar to that, and after digging around my station. I found that the rig I
was using was not grounded. My station consists of Heathkit, Collins S-Line,
E.F. Johnson, and my Kenwood TS-430S. The antenna system is the GAP
Vertical.

After laying down grounding rods, and connecting up the grounding wires, I
discovered I had forgotten to connect one. Since then my neighbor has not
complained. Now, I got off lucky. There are a lot of reasons why you maybe
(and I said MAYBE) causing problems with your neighbors computer. What type
of grounding system are you using? How much power are you using? Just how
close is your antenna from your neighbors house? Getting to the antenna
system, what type of antenna are you using? and Finally, what type of feed
line are you using? There are a couple of good websites that I go to from
time to time. Check out this one:

http://www.sedan.org/grounds.htm

There is another that I just can't seem to put my finger on. But, if I find
it, I will send it along to you. If you like, I would be more then happy to
find a Technical Specialist in your area. Just let me know what I can do to
help you..

Cheers!

Alot of good advise so far on this to which I would add that you might want
to consider contacting your ARRL section manager to find an ARRL Technical
Specialist in your area. They are suppose to be selected for knowledge in
resolving RFI complaints and the better ones are quite good at this.
Certainly bringing in a "third" party other than the FCC, who most likely
will not be eager to help your neighbor to a solution will only make matters
worse.

Perhaps approaching your neighbor and offering to contact someone who will
be
interested in solving "the" (his) problem and not be an uninterested
government employee would be helpful.

Goodluck in resolving this.

i hope this isnt out of line for the reflectors, but I have a technical
problem I need
some input on.
Has anyone ever experienced tvi in their neighbors computer to such an
extent
that the neighbors computer actually shut down or locked up?
My neighbor says my rig is doing just that. I have never heard of
this.... I've heard
of tvi in the television and phones, but never in a computer. What
makes it even
more mysterious is the fact that my own computer is up in the dining
room area,
which is four feet above where I am sitting and transmitting from in the
basement,
and it does not happen to my computer. And, its not happening to any
other
neighbors computer. They arent even seeing any problem in their
televisions or phones. Neighbor is threatening to call the FCC
if it's not cleared up, but I've tried to explain that the regs would
not hold me responsible, but I'll try to help them out.
Any input or comments would be helpful and appreciated.
