Astron information // Hope this helps..

As I look at the schematic, as I should have done earlier, I see two
windings but both are center-tapped. Maybe I should look at the voltage
at D1/D2 with respect to power supply ground and D101/D102 again
referenced to the same ground. I think what they tried to do is power
the regulator section and the pass element (Q101 - Q104) from separate
sources. You'll se that the regulator source has a 2,000 uf and the
series pass element has a 70,000uf capacitor which indicates the kinds
of current anticipated by the designers. My supply has been operating
faithfully on a regular basis since 1985. The ON/OFF switch went bad
last year but that's a small consequence and was easily fixed.

Ok,
In the interest of trying to help the person that has the power supply
problem. I hope this helps. I read all the posts, but just remember that
there was a transformer question.

I have a Astron RS-35A ( fixed 12 volt output ) on the test bench.
Checked it and found the following information.

The transformer in mine is 33 volts AC into 2 bridge rectifiers. BUT...
Only 1/2 of each bridge is used. They are in parallel

It is a full wave design.

But it has 33 volts AC to the diodes.
