After having taken apart many LMO, etc. There are two items that you need
to look out for.

First: make sure you have a long handle  5/64" hex wrench, 3 inches or
better. Or replace the hex screws with slotted screws on the dial shaft
where it connects with the LMO. You need a long reach to tighten it down
after adjustment.

Second:  On the index bezel for frequency adjustment, the small wheel to
the shaft may not go into alignment. Push down on the face plate some,
and this will take care of that problem.  You can then "lock" it with the
dial shaft nut.

I concur on the rest. "Follow the Manual."
