I noticed the same thing....but why spoil the fun? 

There is a Hallicrafters SX-62 receiver  in the background in the early part 
of the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster. Another, Hallicrafters rig 
(SR-400?) has a supporting role in  "A Perfect World" (Clint Eastwood and 
Kevin Costner).
