SB 303/401/650 problems...help!!!

Been tuning up an SB-303,401 and 650, all at the same time...some
interesting problems....I'm interested in any ideas...
1)  I can't get the 650' to read any frequencies on the ten meter
band...yet 10 meters seems to work. Other bands ok...
2) 40 meters seems 'unstable'...when listening to CW, the signals seem
to waver...the HFO oscillator seems to be the culprit and the HFO
adjustment very sensitive...could the xtal be the problem?
3) Unpluging the HFO cable (which goes to the 401') seems to solve the
above (problem#2)....I've checked all the circuitry going into the 401'
and everything seems kosher...yet it seems the 401' is presenting quite
a load to the the 303's HFO amplifier....
4) Also, unplugging the HFO cable also allows the 650' to read the top
three of the ten meter frequencies...again looking like the 401' is
overloading the 303's HFO amp....I've already changed the 303's HFO
oscillator and amp transistors...any ideas?
