Hi everyone:
I returned home recently and found the fluorescent bulb burned out on my
ID-5001 weather station along with the station fuse. I've tried replacing both
and can't get the bulb to re-light.
The manual indicates that the problem might be in the light driver circuit.
I understand that this is fairly common and that there used to be a conversion
available to a ballasted bulb and/or LED's. I'm reluctant to "redesign" or
modify the original design unless this proves to be a consistent problem.
I've talked to the gentlemen who sells the unit new, and he does a conversion
for around $300. I was wondering if any of you have done this yourself and
can lend some advice or know of conversion kits available. I rather do the
conversion/repairs myself if I can.
Thanks for any advice,
Mike McGue
