Heath 5001 weather

I'm sure someone out there has had this problem and solved it.  I am trying to use Thunderhead WxSolution on my Windows XP to connect to the 5001.  It supposedly will work, but cannot get the two to communicate.  Am using COM1 on the computer.  Any help would be appreciated.
