6146 finals

So long as both are not 6146B tubes you shouldn't have
any problems. You can safely mix a 6146 with a 6146A.
The brands don't really matter. In fact, a lot of
the various brands came off of the same production
line! They were just stamped with different brand
names. However, NEVER mix a 6146 or 6146A with a
6146B. That is asking for all sorts of problems!
Also, most SB-102 (not sp-102!) transceivers are not
that "happy" with the 6146B. Some will work OK, but
most have problems with neutralization and the final
amplifier tubes often "run away" and put out all sorts
of parasitic emissions.
For the article on the 6146 family of tubes that was
in Electric Radio two years ago, go to either of the
websites listed at the end of this message.
