My two cents:

The ham community, to me at least, is an international
brotherhood/sisterhood. It is also a community, according to some, that is
in danger of disappearing. What keeps it going is our continued awareness
that we ARE a community and that our actions toward each other as hams
effects the community at large. Whereas I consider Mr. Bentz's decision a
bit drastic, I fully understand his anger. Two decades back I sold my ham
gear and let my license expire because I was fed up with the lack of
civility among fellow hams. I respectfully remind everyone here that hams do
not breed other hams, that is, this hobby survives only through recruitment.
Forgetting our manners does not help things. I would also respectfully
remind Mr. Bentz that most of the posters here are generous, intelligent
people who love radio and feel about these emails as you do.
