With an alkaline cell lasting 4-5 years in this service, (unless you
do a LOT of low resistance measurements,) it hardly seems worth it.

This mod is right up there with the "mod" to put the 1M probe
resistor inside the meter case.  Sounds good, but it completely
ignores the reason it was put in the probe to begin with!!
