*If* properly calibrated it is as stable as a rock and quite accurate.
Replace the "lytic cap on the board,and the high voltage rated input tubular
cap,also.You might wish to replace the early style solid state
rectifier,while you are at it,but I have never seen a bad one in the IM-11.
Since most were built from kits,poor solder joints are common and can drive
you crazy;so just redo any possibly suspicious ones.
Squeaky clean switch contacts are a must,too.Loose connections at the test
cable, and probe are also an excellent possibility for problems.
Meter needle should zero precisely with mechanical meter set screw.
A properly balanced meter movement will not move more than one smallest
division when the IM-11 is tipped from a vertical to a horizontal position.
If you elect to repaint the case,remove old paint with "Off" paint removal
spray and rinse carefully and then soak overnight in a lye and water
solution to etch the metal so it will accept your primer and paint.Be VERY
careful in handling lye,please.Protection for eyes and hands is mandatory.
