Wagging DX-35 Meter

When I built my DX-100 many years ago I had the same problem.  

I would bet that one of the hairsprings inside the meter have become 
unsoldered from its stationary point  and source of current. When the
pointer swings up
it breaks the current and it drops back till it makes again and it all
starts over...
 If you can disassemble the meter a touch with the soldering iron should
fix it.
