DX100 HI VOLTAGE XFRMR

My original DX-100 developed a short in the high
voltage transformer. Since I did not have anything to
lose, I removed the transformer from the unit and put
it upside down on the kitchen stove. I turned the
heat up to high and let the transformer "cook" until
the tar started "bubbling" out. Then I let it cool
for several hours (the transformer will retain a "lot"
of heat for quite a while).

When I replaced the transformer in the transmitter it
worked fine. That was in 1966 and the transformer was
still "going strong" when I gave it away in the late
1970s. Since then I have acquired another DX-100.

Don't know if that "trick" will help your situation.
But, there is nothing to lose by trying it.

rewound this xfrmr.
