There is an easier way.

You can buy lengths of various diameter o-ring material by the yard (meters
here in ZA land) at a supplier of rubber goods to the engineering trade. Get
the right diameter and measure the length required around the pulleys in the
radio. Then simply glue them together with instant glue. Hold for about 30
seconds and release. Voila! Watch you don't get glue on your fingers.

No need to even dismantle shaft.
