Hot Carrier or Shottky(?) diode recommendations?

Hi,

Can someone recommend a very good upgrade to the usual 1N191 diode Heath
used in detectors and ring modulators? I would like something with a
much lower forward drop, and a very fast recovery time, but one that
will still stand up to all the various reverse voltages and forward
currents (or better for both) that 1N191 was expected to survive in
Heath equipment.

I believe what I want is a so called 'Hot Carrier Diode' (Schottky?).
I've heard HP and NTE may have cross references for the Hp ones - but I
don't really know. But which one would be a good replacement for the
1N191 over the HF range (or HF range and higher if it can do it)? Is
there a generally recognized one that people here have gravitated to as
the gold standard for replacing the 1N191? I only need two or three of
them, so if they are slightly on the expensive side I still wouldn't
mind.

And a source would be appreciated. But they have to be non-surface
mount type with 'regular' leads.

Thanks You.

P.S. And thanks to everyone who responded recently to my call for help
on waxed lacing twine and the lost art of proper lacing technique -
excellent responses! And very interesting.
