When restoring a "boatanchor" it is not uncommon for the original manufacturer of the equipment (and their procurement notes) are long gone.  Even the original USA part manufacturers are hard to find, largely due to the mergers and acquisitions over the last 15 years.

Many Heathkit parts were sourced from Chicago or Midwest suppliers in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.  Many of these companies have moved or been purchased over the past 30 years.

Electroswitch acquired switch product lines from this list of "Who's Who" of electronic component and switch manufacturers.

Eaton Commercial Controls (1999)
OakGrigsby (2003)


Oak and CRL/CentraLab were both located in the Chicago area.  They often supplied the phenolic rotary switches in Heath gear (and Collins).
