Enhanced Apache TX-1 Audio

The article that appeared in Electric Radio a while
back on improving the Apache audio can be found on
either of the websites that are listed at the end of
this message. All that is required is changing 3
capacitors and unplugging the 6AL5 clipper tube (no
modifications are made to this circuit).

After making these very minor changes the quality of
the Apache audio is improved greatly. In fact, people
who are very critical of how an AM signal "sounds"
give "rave" reviews to Apache transmitters that have
had the modifications performed.

There are all sorts of articles on improving the
"scratchy Apache" audio, some of which are very good
and some of which, well lets just say that the article
says to make some modifications. The 3 capacitor
modification is easy to make (takes all of about 10
minutes) and definitely improves the audio quality.

I think many many many of the suggested improvements
and modifications for these older rigs are great and
beneficial.
