The 6EA8 is a dual-section mixer type tube, very similar to the 6U8.
The envelope contains a triode and a sharp-cutoff pentode. Neither
tube was EVER originally used in any of the Heathkit SB/HW
transceivers as an LMO or VFO tube.
Furthermore, the 6EA8 or 6U8 is a 9 pin miniature tube, while the LMO
tube is a 7 pin miniature. As I remember it, the LMO tube in the SB-101
is a 6CB6, but I my memory may be off.
If your LMO has a 6EA8 in it, someone must have changed the socket
and rewired it for some reason.
