It has been my understanding that the japanese transistors are in
general cataloged as follows:
A: PNP small signal (ex: 2SA708, or A708)
B: PNP power (ex: 2SB925, or B925)
C: NPN small signal (ex 2SC945, or C945)
D: NPN power (ex: 2SD313, or D313
Still, there seem to be variations on the power versus letter, for
example sometimes you see a "A" transistor in a TO-220 case, like the
A913, so the power rating should only be used as a general reference.
