Bill -
The modification removed that (failure prone) capacitor and changed the
variable LOAD capacitor from a 250 pF to a three section ~1000 pF BC
variable. The "new" capacitor was the same one used in the later
DX-100B. The dual control shaft, switch and inner red knob were also
removed and replaced with a single knob.
