Faceplate inck

I have an SB - 301/ 401 series Heath rigs. Both work wonderfully, especially considering their age. My problem is the previous owner of these rigs put small, but certainly noticeable, ink pen marks on the faceplates of both rigs. Example: On the SB-401, where the final tunes to 80 meters, there is a small ink line and above it the numbers "80", and so on through 10 meters. On the receiver, there are similar ink lines and numbers inserted just above and around the preselector control.
Otherwise each faceplate is in very clean condition.
Does anyone have any idea how I can remove these ink marks? I really want to avoid any form of abrasive rubbing that might wear the paint, marr the faceplate, or do something that might make matters worse than what they are now. But any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Dave, W8QW
