I suppose if he's rewinding it anyway, it won't matter, but will that stuff 
take some types of magnet wire insulation off? Hard to predict what a given 
mfr used (Formvar vs polyurethane nylon for example...maybe age would narrow 
down possibilities).

Only time I used this stuff was to unpot a circuit board from a solid clear 
brick. I left it in too long and it took the paint off the carbon film 
resistors!
