[Boatanchors] Yoiks! A restorers worst nightmare

Not a nightmare really, just a minor setback. IMHO, trying to repair the
part would be a waste of time and result in a structurally suspect product.
It would be a simple matter for any machinist with a few minutes time on a
manual lathe to make a replacement for you. Even someone with a hobby lathe
in his garage could do it in about 20 minutes if you supply the proper
diameter aluminum rod, probably available from Ace Hardware.
Most shops will likely have some scrap pieces around that can be used..
www.bigyellow.com shows listings for 48 machine shops in the St.Petersburg
area.
You might also consult your local yellow pages for a trade school and check
with the machine shop instructor. He might refer you to a student who would
do the job for you as a practice exercise.
