Cheyenne and Comanche questions

I have this pair of transmitter and receiver.  Both appear to be in working order.  I have powered both up using a HP-23 power supply, and I am able to receive signals with the Comanche.  Now I would like to hook up a speaker to the receiver, any recommendations on a low cost speaker that works well with this??  Will just any 8ohm speaker work?  Also I do not have a microphone for the Cheyenne, and the plug is HUGE compared to what I have been able to find to try and adapt something to it.  Any recommendations on where to get a connector, and what type of microphone will work?
