Try a "gimmick" capacitor. Basically this is two pieces of hookup wire twisted together. Start with a single piece of wire about 6 inches long, strip each end about 1/4 inch, fold in half, then twist the wire quite a few times. Next cut off the "fold". Solder the stripped ends where the capacitor should go.
You can cut off (turn the radio off, of course) the end that is twisted about 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch at a time if there is too much capacity.

Anyway, according to the SB-610 manual, it is recommended to connect a 1 pf capacitor to the plate of the last IF amplifier and the other side of that to one of the spare jacks on the back of my SB-101.
I did this part and doscovered a SEVERE reduction in sensitivity (low receive). Heathkit manual (SB-610) also speaks of trying a very slightly higher capacitance if needed.
I did some troubleshooting and discovered that ALMOST anything well affect this tube's output adversely. BTW, I only had a 1 pf disc capacitor - nod not have a mica cap.
