6AH6 vs 6AU6

As you all may well know by now, the 6AH6 is a much more "hotter" tube
(figuratively, NOT literally, in light of the discussion here about filament
currents! Hi) than the 6AU6...
Indeed, "...way-back-when," the technical department at ARRL advised me to
put a 6AH6 in the VFO of my Ranger-1 transmitter, in place of the stock
6AU6, for "better performance."
Around that same time I had built a HB receiving down-converter that used a
6AU6 RF amplifier --- it was replaced with a 6AH6 in short order after I
heard from the ARRL.
In to-day's world, I've dropped 6AH6's in place of 6HS6's in my Drake Twins
in a snap --- the transconductance is the same, I believe, & the base
diagrams are similar...but the similarities between the two sure do diverge
when looking at their respective PRICES...!
