I do not have a manual nor a 101 handy, so please bare with me.

Directly behind the S meter is a can. Besides this can on the right side
are a resister and a diode. I have done the same thing as you have but in
three cases, I have found the resister bad and once a "new diode"

If needed, I will look up when I get tp the pther cpmputer and my
manuals.
