Not sure if this helps or not, but I bought a Heathkit IT-22 "Capacitestor"
at a hamfest about 15 years ago..Simple device, just checks for short or
open. Price was $5.00, so how could you go wrong? Thing apparently works, but I
never really used it for much. Ebay currently has one for $10.. The
multimeter I bought from Sears a couple of years ago measures ohms, volts, amperes,
capacitance, and temperature; all for under $100 and fits in the palm of
your hand -- we have come a long way.

The old heathkit test gear is nice to have; I have several pieces: tube
checker, scope, power supply, rf and af generators, and of course a VTVM. Hang
on to it for memory sake. I built and repair a lot of that stuff when I was
in High School electronics shop from '69 to '72.
