Greetings keepers of the Green:

As an FYI. There were several 416 tubes. They are know as "lighthouse" tubes. They fit in their own "cavity". They had threads at the top of the tube and they screwed into the cavity. There was a special stainless steel tool we used to grasp the end of the tube where the tube socket plugged in and screwed the tube into place. They were used in the WECO TD -2 microwave transmitter/receivers. The input and output were feed by waveguide. Depending on which version of 416 you used, it had an output of one half to two watts in the 3.700 - 4.200 Ghz range. They were called lighthouse tubes because they looked like a lighthouse. The top ,where it screwed in, had a glass collar. NOW... this is a "ALL HANDS... HEADS UP!!" The high power version 416C used a beryllium collar. This is a dangerous material !!! Be careful, don't break that collar and inhale the dust it may produce!!
