The HP-23 has fixed and adjustable bias and both 6.3 VAC and 12.6 VAC filament voltages. The HP-23 has to have a wire changed to give the low B+ (either 250 VDC or 300 VDC). It works only on 120 VAC and has a pilot lamp. Also, it has a fused plug and an on/off switch.

The HP-23A has fixed and adjustable bias and 6.3 VAC and 12.6 VAC filament voltages. It has a switch to change the low B+ which is also the off/on switch. The fused plug is replaced with a circuit breaker and it can be wired for either 120 VAC or 240 VAC operation.

The HP-23B has only fixed bias and 12.6 VAC filament voltage. It has a switch to change the low B+ which is also the off/on switch and a circuit breaker. The HP-23B can be wired for either 120 VAC or 240 VAC operation.

The HP-23C goes back to the hard wire selection of the low B+ and has no off on switch. It does have a circuit breaker. It only has fixed bias and 12.6 VAC for the filament voltage. The HP-23C can be wired for either 120 VAC or 240 VAC operation.

The PS-23 is identical to the HP-23C.
