Before we begin, i just got through working on a mono bander and to know
where I must start in helping you is ? How are you measuring the output of
the receiver ? With a power meter. Do you have a tube tester ? If so how
do the finals check out ? How does the input signal to the driver check out
? Bias dropping of or going high of remaing steady. LMO Signal to xmit OK
? If you are only using the S meter for the P/O see if the resitor divder
is OK. How is mike drive. I just had a problem with mine - does output
remaing steady on tune position. THANKS AND WILL TRY AND HELP JERRY KE7GG

Subject: HW-12A, Power Loss
I have a very nice HW-12A that rapidly lost output power, now has minimal
output. Receive is okay. Replacement of driver and finals did nothing to
correct the problem.
I am a little rusty on trouble-shooting this gear, as it has been quite a
few years (a couple of decades, really) since I did much service work. So...
I would appreciate suggestions, likely causes, first steps, etc to diagnose
and fix this problem... Thanks in advance... I know I'll get some great
advice from this group!
