SB-104A rx overload problem...Help Please!!

No proven solutions from this guy but I do have a few suggestions and/or comments.

#1: Use some RF attenuation in front of the receiver front end. Frequently the noise level on 80M is quite a bit more than the receiver's sensitivity and this means you can blow away some of that surplus away with RF attenuation.

#2: If the problem is their splatter rather than something generated in your receiver front end then you are, more or less, just stuck if the interfering signal is on the frequency you want to use. If the interferer is higher than the desired then (other than using a directional antenna or the like) you are doomed.

Drat those high powered guys!

Subject: [HEATH-TEMPE] SB-104A rx overload problem...Help Please!!

Hi, gang!

My SB-104A seems to be affected by guys operating excessive power and/or
wide sigs. For instance, on 75m here in the Southeast, There are a bunch of
fellows on/around 3895 who are running BIG power and wide-open speech
processors with resultant spurs in their signals. I hear that dreck on up
through 3975 or so! And, the spurs are really loud, often S9 or more.

If there's mods out there to help improve the selectivity and sensitivity to
these types of rx overload, I sure would like to hear from you. Fortunately,
I have the Extender Board for my '104A which would make working on it a lot
easier.

Sandy AC1Y
