WTD: Electrovoice 638 Microphone

Isn't that the way! And I have a deep, resonant voice, which makes some mics
waaay too bassy or boomy. The only two mics I've ever thought were too
"tinny" are an old E-V 636 Slimair with an element I'm sure is tired, and
that D-104 that I rebuilt with a jap crystal element... for some reason it's
markedly deficient in lows.
I have a Heil headset, a much-appreciated gift from a buddy, that has the
dual elements in the boom, and though I had to build an adapter cord or two
and even employed a Shure impedance matching transformer to use it with the
boat-anchors I was then using and still use sometimes, it was well worth it.
I really enjoy getting out the soldering iron and implementing such items...
I've got a drawer-full of PTT adapter cords, adapters from mic connector
type-to-type, etc.
Hmmm... I hadn't thought of it till just now: that Heil headset will
probably be my next "mic" for the IC-718. Just make an adapter for the mic
connector... and I was thinking I'd have to save up to buy a Heil mic!
Whatever works... one of the nicest aspects of hamming!

Kent
